This is my first pattern so please be kind with me! I don’t really have a plan, I just want to share my work hoping I’ll inspire someone else to pick up the needles or the hook and start knitting or crocheting. The first step to succeed is to start. I hope in time I’ll be better with the writing and with designing other patterns.

I was 5 or 6 years when I’ve learned to knit, my grandmother showed me the basics: how to cast on, cast off, the knit stitch and the purl stitch. For many years I was playing around with yarn and needles until I got in high school and started to take it serious, in the summer vacations, when I had the time I’ve learned more stitches and different techniques. Later in college I’ve learned to crochet and became my first passion, or how I often say: my obsession!

Today I’ll show you how to knit a scarf that I’ve made for my husband, but which it fits me very well too, so I can say it’s a unisex scarf. I’ve knitted this scarf last year for my husband birthday, but most off the time I’m stilling it from him and I’m wearing it.

This knit unisex scarf is perfect for cold weather, for spring-autumn if you use cotton yarn, or winter if you use wool.

The knit unisex scarf is perfect for beginners. If you only know the knit and purl stitches this pattern is perfect for you.

You can wear it wrapped around your neck:

Or you can make a City Slicker Knot: fold the scarf in half lengthwise and wrap it around your neck, then pull the loose ends through the loop that was created by the fold.

The video tutorial for the stitch:

For my scarf I used cotton yarn ( three years ago I’ve bought a few cotton cons without a label, so I don’t know what brand my cotton is) and I knitted with the thread fold it in three and 5mm needles. If you use wool (like I did in the YouTube video) just use what needles are indicated on the label.

For the edge I’ve crocheted four rounds of single crochet with a 5 mm hook.

Here is a closer look for this beautiful textured pattern:

You can wash it by hand or in a washing machine at 30 degrees, and block it (if you used cotton you can iron it). Now you can enjoy your new scarf!
