The Cozy days crochet Vest is a thick, warm and great layering piece for these chilly or cold days. What I love about this crochet vest is that you can wear it like a sleeveless jacket too or you can crochet sleeves, in this case you will have a great sweater weather. I think you can wear this Vest with just about everything, especially with jeans, my favorite look for the days spent on my couch crocheting and drinking coffee.

Using a super bulky and bulky yarn you’ll have this Cozy days crochet Vest ready to wear it in just a few hours. This crochet vest pattern it’s a fast project to crochet and very easy, the pattern only uses the slip stitch, the single crochet stitch and the half double crochet stitch. This project is perfect for a beginner not only because is easy to crochet it but because after you’ll see it finished you will have the feeling that you’re crochet skills are improving and you can really do this!

So don’t give up! practice every day if you can and you’ll became so good that even you won’t believe it! You can do it  and you can be good at it!

What I love the most about this style vest pattern is that it has a minimum shaping and is crocheted in one piece, so is no need to sew any parts together (actually you’ll have to sew the shoulder, but that is all). Even if it’s an easy and fast pattern as a result you’ll have a beautiful and cozy vest for every day wear.

Skill level: Easy

Materials for the Cozy Days crochet Vest pattern:

7 mm hook and a 8 mm hook for the edge; 55 cm (21,5 inches) zipper (you can use buttons instead of zipper).

For my vest I’ve used 400 g Burgundy Alpaca Superbulky and 150 g Peruvian Black.

How to crochet the half double crochet stitch in the back loop:

Begin with any number of chains you need plus one chain and crochet the half double crochet starting with the second chain from the hook.

Start the next row with chain 1 (don’t count as stitch).

1. Yarn over the hook and insert the hook in the back loop of the stitch of the previous row.

2. Pull a loop through the back loop of the previous row.

Now you have 3 loops on the hook.

3. Yarn over again and pull the yarn through all three loops on the hook.

4. One loop remains on the hook, and you just made one half double crochet stitch. Repeat steps 1 to 3 for the next stitches.

The empty front loop creates a ridge on the side of the work facing you.

The final dimensions of my Cozy Days crochet Vest are: 53 cm (21 inches) long and 48 cm (19 inches) width.
Gauge (for the body of the vest): 12 stitches& 9 rows per 10 cm square (4 inches square).
