The Cozy days crochet Vest is a thick, warm and great layering piece for these chilly/ cold days. What I love about this vest is that you can wear it like a sleeveless jacket too.

Using a super bulky and bulky yarn you’ll have this Cozy days crochet Vest ready to wear in just a few hours. It’s a fast project to crochet and very easy, the pattern only uses the slip stitch, the single crochet stitch and the half double crochet stitch.

Skill level: Easy

Materials:

7 mm hook and a 8 mm hook for the edge; 55 cm (21,5 inches) zipper.

For my vest I’ve used 400 g Burgundy Alpaca Superbulky and 150 g Peruvian Black.

This combination of wool: 25% Alpaca, 25% organic merino and 50% acrylic, makes the yarn light, soft and warm, therefore is perfect for projects like this, but it can be use for jumpers, cardigans and  cozy warm sweaters too. You can buy this yarn here:  http://bit.ly/2YwVRIu.

How to crochet the half double crochet stitch in the back loop:

Begin with any number of chains you need plus one chain and crochet the half double crochet starting with the second chain from the hook.

Start the next row with chain 1 (don’t count as stitch).

1. Yarn over the hook and insert the hook in the back loop of the stitch of the previous row.

2. Pull a loop through the back loop of the previous row.

Now you have 3 loops on the hook.

3. Yarn over again and pull the yarn through all three loops on the hook.

4. One loop remains on the hook, and you just made one half double crochet stitch. Repeat steps 1 to 3 for the next stitches.

The empty front loop creates a ridge on the side of the work facing you.

The final dimensions of my Vest are: 53 cm (21 inches) long and 48 cm (19 inches) width.

Gauge (for the body of the vest): 12 stitches& 9 rows per 10 cm square (4 inches square).
