The crochet coaster set is a lot of fun to crochet as they work up very quickly. It’s an easy-level crochet pattern witch uses basic stitches: chains, single crochet stitch, and double crochet stitch, and that makes it a perfect project for a beginner. We all have that end table or coffee table where we set our coffee and water and I can’t stand it when a glass sweats and makes a ring of moisture on the table. So if you are looking for how-to crochet coasters for beginners this crochet coasters round is perfect for you.
The crochet coaster set not only looks fantastic on a table but also makes a great gift for Christmas or a housewarming present. I’ll be giving sets of these crochet coasters along with my favorite tea and coffee tied up with a turquoise bow.
Make lots of these in all different colors! They are a great stash-buster project and a relaxing one between those big crochet projects.
For my Crochet coaster set, I’ve used 15 g of 100% mercerized cotton: Pink& Turquoise (50g= 125m/ 1.76oz= 136 yards) and a 3 mm hook.
This is a very high-quality cotton yarn. Mercerizing makes cotton yarn glossy, it keeps its shape and doesn’t shrink in the wash. The yarn becomes extremely durable and more resistant to mold. The wonderful depth of color is also characteristic of mercerized cotton. Since the fibers can absorb more color, the result is a much more intense and lasting color.
The color chart includes many gorgeous colors, you just have to decide what color you like and get started. Here you can buy this yarn:
I love this yarn, it holds up well to wear and comes in 48 of the most stunning colors! I’ve used it for lots of other projects like this crochet lace scrunchie and these granny squares coasters.
You could make this pattern with acrylic yarn too, but the cotton yarn will be much more absorbent for drinks that sweat – so keep that in mind when you’re choosing yarns!

Thank you for the free pattern. FYI, I noticed on the 2nd Coaster that the chart isnt marked correct. There are 15 sets of sts in ea rnd but the chart shows only 12. The chart for the first coaster looks correct.
Thank you for your comment, the chart is correct, the mistake was in the writing of the first round.
