summer vine lace knitted top

If you are looking for a knit summer top pattern the Summer Vine Lace knitted top is the perfect choice for you. The Vine Lace knitted top for summer has minimum shaping. The pattern for this summer knitted top is beginner friendly, the pattern only uses the knit and purl stitches and basic increasing and decreasing techniques so is perfect if you are a beginner and a very fun project to make.

This is a beginner knitting pattern free, so if you only know how to knit the knit stitch and the purl stitch and you know how to decrease you’ll be able to knit this lace stitch without problems. The Vine Lace Zig Zag stitch is easy knitting for beginners and the perfect example of how simple stitches and basic techniques can make such a beautiful, chic, and elaborate finished piece that is hard to believe a beginner could knit.

So don’t give up if it doesn’t look good for the first time, or the second, we all have been there! Just take that needles and practice every day if you can and you’ll become so good that even you won’t believe it! You can do it and you can be good at it!

For my Summer Vine Lace knitted top, I’ve used approx 200 g (4 x 50 g) (50g= 160m/ 1.76oz= 174yards) and 3,5 mm needles.

Soft, wonderful cotton yarn combined with acrylic results in a lightweight yarn.

The cotton adds breathability and comfort while the acrylic makes the yarn lighter and helps keep its shape. A perfect combination where both acrylic and cotton get to show their best qualities.  It feels light and is soft and comfortable against the skin. Furthermore, it is ideal for kids’ clothing since it is easy to wash and stays neat.

The cotton content makes for slightly firmer fibers making it easy to work with for both knitting and crocheting. It’s easy to get the stitches nice and even. And is suitable for everything from sweaters and dolls to pillows, baskets, and bags.

It’s a good choice if you want to use yarn without animal fibers – or if you experience discomfort with wool. Here you can buy this yarn:

A kind of gauge, because this pattern needs a multiple of 10 stitches plus 1, I’ll give you the gauge for 10 stitches, I think is much easier to adjust the size this way: 10 stitches= 3.5 cm (1.37 inches).

Cast on an even number of stitches plus 1, for my top I’ve started with 101 stitches.

Row 1: knit all the stitches;
Row 2: p1, *k1 in the st below (insert the needle into the center of st below next st on the left needle and knit it, dropping unworked st above from left needle at the same time), p1*. Repeat *-* to end.

Repeat the pattern from row 1 until you have 14 rows.

Optional: Crochet single crochet stitches all around the front panel and then around the back panel. Crochet the stitches on the right side (in corners crochet 2 sc in one stitch). I like to crochet this round of single crochet because the edges look better. In addition, it’s easier to join together the two panels. Plus the neckline looks better too, but you can skip this step if you like.

Sew together the front and back panels, and then sew together the shoulders too. Sew the panels together using the stitch you know how to sew.

I recommend washing the knitted top by hand or on the washing machine at a maximum of 30 Celsius degrees. I prefer 20 Celsius degrees for all my knitted items. Block the top using your favorite method.
