Bralette crochet top
The Bralette crochet top is a crop top perfect for summer days and for the heat waves. This crop crochet top is crocheted in fine cotton yarn, perfect for hot summer days but you can wear it under a blazer or a shirt at the beginning of fall too. It is the perfect crocheted top for a festival look and if you choose to use ribbons instead of crocheted straps you can personalize it to reflect your style and personality. So, if you are looking for crochet patterns for tops to add to your collection the Bralette crochet top is a must. Have fun with trendy colors or venture into different shades of your favorite color.

The Bralette crochet top is crocheted with a 3mm hook, creating a solid fabric that need not be worn with a bra. You may choose to wear your bralette with removable cups like the ones found in bathing suits or you can use a silicone nipple cover for a more comfortable wearing experience. You can also sew in a fabric lining if you feel the need to.

The pattern for the Bralette crochet top is a fun and easy project to crochet and can be completed in just a day or two, the pattern only uses single crochet and double crochet stitches. The Bralette crochet top is not a beginner crochet pattern but is a very fun project to crochet. So don’t give up if it doesn’t look good the first time, or the second, we have all been there! Just take the hook and practice every day if you can and you’ll become so good that even you won’t believe it! You can do it and you can be good at it!

For my Bralette crochet top, I’ve used: 100 g Camilla pink 100% mercerized cotton (2x 50g) (50 g= 125m/ 1.76oz= 136 yards), a 3 mm hook, and 5-7 buttons, 1 cm in size, your favorite ribbons if you choose not to crochet the straps.

cotton yarn

This is a very high-quality cotton yarn. Mercerizing makes cotton yarn glossy, it keeps its shape and doesn’t shrink in the wash. The yarn becomes extremely durable and more resistant to mold. Textiles in cotton stay beautiful for many years and only get softer with use. This yarn also excels when it comes to its absorbing powers, but is quick-drying at the same time. The wonderful depth of color is also characteristic of mercerized cotton. Since the fibers can absorb more color, the result is a much more intense and lasting color.

The color chart includes plenty of gorgeous colors, you just have to decide what color you like and get started. Here you can buy this yarn: http://bit.ly/2AiY2qw

Notes:

  • I recommend you use mercerized cotton; the cups will keep their shape much better;
  • If you need a larger body just add more chains in multiple of 6 ch, every 6 ch= 2.5 cm/ 1 inch;
  • You can make the cups and the body in different sizes if you need (for example: cup size M and body size S).
  • Measure your under-bra circumference wearing a bra and measure your cage rib under your bra band.

The straps:

Romanian cord

For the straps, I’ve crocheted the Romanian cord. Crochet two identical straps.
Start with 2 chains:
1. Insert the hook in the 2nd chain from the hook:
     a. and wrap the yarn over the hook and pull the new loop through the chain, now you have 2 loops on your hook;
     b. Wrap the yarn over the hook, and pull a loop through both loops on the hook, now you have one loop on your hook;
     c. turn clockwise.
2. Insert the hook in the single loop from the left side of your work:
     a. and wrap the yarn over the hook and pull the new loop through the loop from the left side of your work, now you have 2 loops on your hook;
     b. Wrap the yarn over the hook, and pull a loop through both loops on the hook, now you have one loop on your hook;
     c. turn clockwise.
3. Insert the hook in the two loops from the left side of your work:
     a. and wrap the yarn over the hook, and pull a loop through both loops from the left side of your work, now you have 2 loops on your hook;
     b. Wrap the yarn over the hook and pull a loop through both loops on the hook, now you have one loop on your hook.
     c. turn clockwise.
Repeat the pattern from step 3 until you have the desired length (around 60 cm/ 23.5 inches should be enough). Sew the straps on the cups.

Assembly:

First, sew the buttons on the body, sew them on the side where you’ve crocheted the 4 dc sts.
The buttonholes will be the holes made by the lace.
Close the buttons and fold the body in two so you can mark the middle of the body.
Mark the middle between the 2 cups and with a safety pin join together the 2 middles. Sew the cups onto the body.
